Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this time of the year. It reminds me to be thankful in EVERYTHING. That’s right. Everything. There isn’t a soul out there that does not have bad things happen to them as well as good. I certainly did this year. I also realized that I was focusing way too much on my misfortunes and things that were beyond my control. It was ruining my daily experience of just living. But a remarkable thing happened: I was reminded that my faith teaches me to give thanks to God IN everything (not for!). After committing to that, I noticed the sun was shining  just a little brighter, birds were singing a little louder, and my joy was returning once again.

So, what am I thankful? Well, I am thankful for my six children. Children makes all holidays more spirited and exciting. I am thankful for my wife who I have been with for 20 wonderful years. While my looks have gone south, her beauty continues to reach more heights. I am thankful to Jesus who died for my sins and has given me something to hope for, even eternal life. I am thankful to be in a country that allows me to practice my Christian faith without fear of retribution. I am also thankful for our veterans that have and continue to serve our nation.

I am also thankful IN the adversities that have come my way. Problems make me realize that I am frail and human. Being reminded of that makes me have compassion on my neighbors who also struggle with adversity. Instead of criticizing folks around me, I now empathize with my neighbors, and I pray for them and seek to help whenever I can.

I am also thankful for EM Web Design. I started this company over 15 years ago and what a journey it has been. I LOVE my work and I LOVE serving my clients. 2013 has been our best year ever. So, I want to end with saying how thankful I am for all of my wonderful clients. Thank you!
